Medicaid is a health insurance program of the US federal government that gives health insurance to children and some specific low income individuals and families. It’s not to be confused with Medicare which is the largest insurance program in the US.
Funded jointly by the US federal government and the respective state government, the health insurance program is under the aegis of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The organization sets the national standards for quality, eligibility criteria, standards etc. though many states have their own guidelines.
